SMSSL is operating in the coastal areas. The organization is very much aware of the consequences of disasters, especially of floods and cyclones. Much has been learnt from the tragic memory of last few devastating calamities that keep on happening in the coastal districts including Cuttack and Khurda in Odisha. In view of that the SMSSL took up disaster risks & preparedness program and educated people on coping mechanism, information gathering dissemination, solidarity, use of local available materials for relief and rescue operations and formation of disaster mitigation & management committees in the operational areas.
